Simon spent his toddler years in Ontario enjoying winter elements in puffy snowsuits but is grateful to now call Vancouver Island home. An avid outdoors enthusiast, he has explored much of the west coast by kayak and a pair of hiking boots. Over the year he spends much of his recreation time with his family at their remote cabin where fishing for dinner is part of life. Simon’s extensive international wanderings started after university with an opportunity to play professional volleyball overseas and eventually led him to Singapore for 15 years. Living, working and travelling extensively in Asia broadened both his personal and professional horizons. Having recently repatriated back home in the midst of the pandemic, Simon is looking forward to drawing on his extensive research and development of skills-based education programs to further JUMP!’s mission of inspiring, empowering and engaging youth here in Canada and the United States.

Simon brings a wealth of knowledge around sustainable off-the-grid living including solar systems, drinking water systems, dock construction and maintenance, and more to the Educo team. These handyperson skills will certainly be beneficial to site development projects at the Little Holden site. Additionally he has connections within the outdoor education industry and is keen to hire and collaborate with an Educo Program Manager for programs in spring and summer of 2022 and beyond.
