Educo Adventure School – Board Chair, Stuart Clark

My name is Stu Clark, and I am honoured to formally step back into the Educo World, and be a part of nurturing its core philosophy and approach, while also helping shape a bold and beautiful new vision for its impact on the world.

I was formally an Educo instructor, and proudly served as the Executive Director from 2006 to 2013. I also supported the origins of the JUMP foundation, helping design and deliver its first programs in Beijing in 2006 and, 10 years later, joined the JUMP team in Bangkok as the Global Program Director from May 2016 to August 2017. I now sit on the JUMP Foundation’s Global Board of Directors.

I hope to use my 17+ years in the nonprofit and public sector, and my extensive experience in non-profit strategic management and leadership, community development, professional facilitation and nonprofit consulting, to support and help steward the transformational experiences that Educo and JUMP programs create for youth of all walks of life. I have extensive professional work in nonprofit board development, and have consulted over 65 boards in western Canada. In my current role as the Executive Director of an extensive community services organization, I work with other organizational and civic leaders on several critical community development initiatives, including peacemaking and restorative justice, promoting diversity and eliminating hate, and ending poverty. I also hold MBA in Executive Management with a specialization in Leadership from Royal Roads University, and have been trained in risk management, strategic planning, board governance, peacemaking circles, and professional facilitation skills.

Beyond my professional life, I volunteer with Powell River Search and Rescue participating in searches and is a member of the training team; and during my free time I love playing the piano, guitar and ukulele, mountain biking, skiing, kayaking, and learning to grow food. Stuart lives with his wife and two daughters in Powell River.
