At parent teacher interviews a few weeks later, I had parents with tears in their eyes, discussing the profound change the Educo experience had on their child. - Teacher
Educo Policies / Code of Conduct
CODE OF CONDUCTSAFETYMEDICALPRIVACY

Gain self-confidence, experience trust, learn teamwork and increase your appreciation for yourself, other people, and the world around you.

All participants at Educo are expected to:

  • Give their best effort throughout the entire course.
  • Comply with all safety procedures.
  • Respect others at all times.
  • Respect and preserve the natural condition of all wilderness environments.
  • Respect zero tolerance of alcohol or illegal drugs during any course.
  • Leave junk food and pop at home.

The intensity of the program requires that you respect and obey the directions of the staff. Your commitment is required to cooperate and give the program your "best shot." If you are unwilling to participate, it is unfair and unsafe to the other students and you may be asked to leave the program.

kayak, climb, camp Safety
At Educo, safety is our number one priority. Educo's operating procedures, professionally trained staff and industry approved outdoor equipment ensure course activities are as safe as possible. Our safety procedures also ensure the risks during course activities are more perceived than real.

Wilderness areas of travel are such that improper clothing and equipment could contribute to personal discomfort, exposure and possible hypothermia. It is therefore necessary to adhere exactly to the clothing and equipment requirements.

With group sizes between 8-12 participants and 3-4 staff members, Educo maintains a well above industry standard of student to staff ratio.

Our Base Camp well water is tested for purity at the beginning of each season. Our kitchen facilities are inspected annually by the Provincial Health Inspector. The kitchen staff have their Food Safe certificates.

Medical
Students who have recently been in contact with any infectious disease must not come to the School until they are cleared. Course fees will be refunded in these cases on receipt of a letter from the attending physician. Any dental treatment should be carried out before the course begins. If a student is bringing any kind of medication with them on the course, make sure that they have a sufficient quantity to cover the period of the course plus any travel time. All medication (prescription and over the counter) must come with complete instructions signed by a parent or guardian.

Smoking
Due to the nature of our program and the fire hazard in the woods, smoking is not permitted at the School and all smoking materials will be confiscated.
