I arrived at Educo last summer, for the first time at age 28. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that Educo is all about the heart. Sitting on a special piece of land with a motivated community during staff training, I felt a strong sense of place for myself. I’m excited to have found an organization that is committed to and passionate about creating moments of growth and self-discovery in nature with young people.
I first explored the Canadian landscape with Alive Outdoors and Camp Wanakita in Ontario. Alive Outdoors sparked my curiosity for the teacher in nature – not just for ecological info and technical skills but for one’s discovery of self and personal leadership. Born and raised in Scotland, I have worked in outdoor and experiential education on several continents. I honed my ecological and survival skills with the Bushcraft Company in England.
When I’m not guiding others into the wilderness, I am surfing, climbing or creating art (photography and video). My specialty on course? Unique and ridiculously fun team-building activities and eco-games!
